Rahab, Joshua 2

In class we wait until the text has been read and then take turns with the interactive parts.)

Song(s)

Rahab Song,*
Joshua 2:1-21; 6:25
(Tune:  This Old Man)

Two Spies came
 to Jericho.
Soldiers looked both high and low.

With a pile of straw
And a cord of Scarlet red
Rahab hid the men to show her trust in God.

Two spies hid
In the straw.
Soldiers looked and never saw.

With a pile of straw
And a cord of scarlet red,
Rahab hid the men to show her trust in God.

Two spies left.
They climbed down.
Out the window, out of town.

With a pile of straw
And a cord of Scarlet red
Rahab hid the men to show her trust in God.

God’s people came
To the wall.
Rahab’s family stayed safe in the fall.

With a pile of straw
And a cord of Scarlet red
Rahab hid the men to show her trust in God.

*I found this song in my files, but I don’t know the origin of this song. Also, I changed the last line of the chorus from "Rahab showed how brave she was" to "Rahab hid the men to show her trust in God."

  • Bible for Kids App    This app doesn't have as many stories.  (There is a print Bible version.  I don't like the pictures as well. )  The app doesn't highlight each word as it is read, but there is more interaction opportunities.

Digital Resources - YouTube
  • Saddleback Kids   There are 148 different stories.  Search YouTube for Saddleback Kids and the Bible person or story you want.  This is just a link to one.
  • JellyTelly   Search YouTube for JellyTelly and the Bible person or story you want.  This is just a link to one.  There is an app too that is not free.  So far, this is free through YouTube.

Video Resources - DVD's
Read and Share DVD Bible, Volumes 1-4 - This is the same as the app and Bible except it's animated.  These are my favorite DVD's because the kids like them, they are short, and include most of the stories we learn.

Song(s)

My God is so Great
Before singing, say, Caleb and Joshua knew that . . .

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do.
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do.
The mountains are his, the rivers are his, the stars are His handiwork, too.
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do, for you!
After singing it once, say, The other 10 spies didn't even know that . .

Easter

  Easter
The Empty Tomb

People were mean to Jesus and made fun of him before he was crucified.  They dressed him in a  purple robe and put a crown of thrones on his head.  They called him THE KING OF THE JEWS.

The mean people put a crown made out of thorns like this one on Jesus’ head.  The thorns hurt his head.  We looked at this crown and talked about it.  We wore our other crown though because we didn’t want our heads to bleed!
